イリーナ・スルツカヤ引退によせて(誤報らしいです・・・）

本日の報道でロシアのイリーナ・スルツカヤの引退が報じられました。

トリノで金メダルの最右翼といわれ、女子シングルのワールドベストスコア
を持つ彼女は左右両足で可能な「魅惑のビールマンスピン」と言われました。
ロシア史上初の女子シングル金メダルの夢はとうとうかなうことなく終わり
ましたが、彼女は”That's Life"という言葉で家族の病気に加え自らの病気
までも乗り越えてきたことと思います。

オリンピックのリンクに棲むイタズラ好きなスケートの神様をとうとう味方に
つけることはなかったけど、欧州選手権5回優勝、世界選手権はミシェル・
クワンに阻まれて、２回優勝。オリンピックは長野で銅、ソルトレイクでは
サラ・ヒューズ、というよりアメリカのマスコミに阻まれて銀。
そして、トリノは信じられない転倒で銅。

私はとうとう生で彼女を見ることはありませんでしたが、一つの時代を
彩ったスケーターとして記憶に刻まれることでしょう。
私から言わせると、憎らしいほど安定して強かった印象が大きいですけどね。

この後の彼女の”That's Life"に幸あれと願いたいと思います。

あれだけ派手に報道されて誤報だったらすごい・・・
わからん・・・

1977年東京ワールドの新聞のコラムを思い出しました。
「インスブルックの金メダルを機にロドニナは引退するのでは
ないかとの報道があったとき、彼女の答えは　nyet　だった。
そして、今年もこの話題にはnyet・・・」

スルツカヤはよもや東京での女王をねらっているのでは・・・
