One more Thing !! Forever スティーブ・ジョブスの訃報によせて [Macintosh]
昨日はiPhone5のリリースが無く、ティム・クック アップルCEOに世界がだまされた日になりましたが、今日、スティーブ・ジョブス前ＣＥＯの訃報に接して、「これはアメリカ人の大好きなブラックジョークだ」と私は思いました。
あちらこちらで目にして現実なのかとしばし呆然・・・
私が初めて彼の名を知ったのは1993年。
Macintoshという名の値段のバカに高いパソコンがあったことを知った時、それを作っている会社の経営者はスティーブ・ジョブスという名のあまり品がよいとは言えない人だと知りました。
その後、すっかりMacintoshという名のコンピュータの魅力に取り憑かれた私は、自身が最初に持つパソコンはそれに決めて、ちょうどMC68030 CPUから68040に変わるころ。
地元仙台の量販店で見ることもできず、1995年2月、私は幕張メッセで開催されたＭａｃＷｏｒｌｄ Ｅｘｐｏに参戦。
そのとき、既にアップルコンピュータにはスティーブがいない。
マイケル・スピンドラーのテープカットでしたが、右を見ても左を見てもＭａｃという世界に酔いしれていた。
そして、その年、私はＰｏｗｅｒＭａｃ7500を手にした。
漢字Ｔａｌｋ7.5.1というＯＳのＯｐｅｎＴｒａｎｓｐｏｒｔという新技術に泣かされた。
ＰｏｗｅｒＭａｃ8600を経て、スティーブ・ジョブスがアップルコンピュータに復帰したあと、時代はＭａｃＯＳ Ｘへ。
大枚はたいて当時世界最速と言われたＰｏｗｅｒＭａｃ Ｇ4を買ったっけ・・・
先日、ＰｏｗｅｒＭａｃ Ｇ5が水漏れを起こして、どうしようかと思ったけど、やはりＭａｃの無い生活は考えられずにＭａｃminiを購入しました。
この20年近く、私はMacintoshという名のコンピュータと一緒にあった。
スティーブ・ジョブスがアップルコンピュータに復帰して、いつ倒産するかとヒヤヒヤしていたのに、確信も無く、安心したことを思い出します。
スティーブのボーナスにガルフストリームVが贈られたと聞いて、自分のことのようにうれしかった。
思い出はつきませんが、まだアメリカンジョークのような気がしています。
明日になったら、実は生きていた彼が登場して、世界で一番トキメキを感じるあのフレーズをまた言ってくれそうな気がしてなりません。
