ジュニアグランプリイギリス大会に思う

今週はジュニアＧＰシリーズのイギリス大会がシェフィールドで開催され、チームJAPANからは
石川憂佳さんと西野友毬さんが出場するそうですが、大会名を見て少し感慨にふけってしまいました。

大会名は”John　Curry　Memorial”です。
ジョン・カリー、1976年インスブルック五輪の金メダリスト。
そのころはまだフィギュアに開眼していなかったので、リアルで見ることはありませんでしたが
その数年後彼が若くして亡くなったことを知りました。
1980年レイクプラシッドでロビン・カズンズが金メダルを取ったときに恐らくカリーの名も
知ったのだと思いますが、いつかリアルで見たいと思ったスケーターが亡くなったのは
やはりショックだったのを憶えています。

今回、大会名に彼の名を見て少しの感慨がありました。

蛇足ですが、カズンズは私が初めて好きになった男子スケーターです。
少し中性的魅力と力強さの同居。
異論はありましょうが、今、プルシェンコの向こう側に彼を見てるのかもと物思いに
ふける秋の夜長となりました。

（かな～り以前＝トリノ五輪前後位＝にコメントさせて頂いた気がするので、初めましてでは無いと思うのですが・・よく覚えて無くてすみません。）

私も、ロビン・カズンズが一等最初に好きになった男子スケーターなんですよ！！すっごく嬉しくなって思わずコメントしてしまいました。
でも、一緒の頃に出ていたというジョン・カリーさんの事は全然記憶に無いんです。どうしてなのかな？？活躍時期が短かったんでしょうかね。
まあ私がカズンズ以外は主に女子選手ばかり観てたからでしょうか。すみません。

youtubeに画像があって、観てみたのですが・・素晴らしいスケーティングですね！なんともいえない雰囲気をお持ちです。
動きが滑らかで軽やかで、ふわふわと舞うように踊っています。
以前、リアルタイムで観られなかった五十嵐文男さんのを観た時も衝撃でしたけど。
姿勢が良いハズですね。バレエを習っていたとプロフィールにありました。↓
何でも５歳のとき本当はバレエを習いたかったのだが、父親の反対に遭い、フィギュアスケートへ。そして父親が亡くなった16歳からロンドンへ出て禁じられていたバレエも始めた、とありますね。

1994年にHIVで亡くなられたんですね。まだ44なんて若すぎですよね。存じませんでした。QUEENのフレディ・マーキュリーの時もかなりショックでしたけど。今さらですがご冥福を。

カート・ブラウニングが素晴らしい光り輝く頭（失礼）で、ショウの司会やコーチをしているのを観ても、時の流れを感じますよね・・。長々と失礼致しました。

こんばんは。懐かしい名前を見て、嬉しくなりました。私もカズンズが最初に好きになったスケーターです。彼のよさは、生まれもった品でしょう。そして、バレエでたたきこまれたあの表現力。手をふりまわすんじゃなく、空気を包み込むようなあの間のとりかた！彼のような選手はそういません。ああ懐かしい。

記憶も記録もありますよ。
カリーはインスブルックの後ですぐにプロ転向したらしく、ホリデーオン
アイスあたりで滑っていたらしいです。
カズンズはプルシェンコとはかなりの違いがありますが、私はブロンドに
弱いのかも・・・（笑）
カズンズがいて、ティックナーがいて、その後にはこれまた光輝く頭になってしまいましたが、スコット・ハミルトンがいましたね。
五十嵐さんのこれでもかの3Ｌｚの連発も思い出します。
なんか、この手のネタ書いてると止まらなくなりそうです。
